Engagement with GRiST and the evidence base

Overall, we have engaged with a very large number of multidisciplinary mental-health clinicians throughout the UK and internationally. This includes: in-depth interviews with 46 clinicians to explore the breadth and depth of their risk knowledge; ongoing validation from a national panel of over 100 clinicians; a series of 7 focus groups involving 26 clinicians, to seek consensus about GRiST s content and structure; a formal pilot study of GRiST involving 22 clinical teams spread over 17 sites for a period of 4 weeks;  an evaluation study following the implementation of GRiST within the first Trust to adopt it; further validation through subsequent roll-outs of GRiST in NHS Trusts involving thousands of mental health clinicians; focus groups to develop specialised versions of GRiST for older and younger people (n=78 clinicians); and dissemination through numerous national and international peer-reviewed conference presentations (see the site news link), and peer-reviewed publications (see the research documents link).

GRiST has  been reviewed by the Department of Health and is included in its guidance document entitled "Best Practice in Managing Risk".
